He found his stride in Saskatchewan quickly and considers himself a “Saskatchewan boy,” he said. “That makes the business more exciting, because I’m interacting with a lot of different kinds of people and watch them, how their life progressed.” He appreciates the experiences and connections he has made with regular customers over nearly 16 years, he added. The restaurant quickly became a downtown staple with its unique combination of casual Asian cuisine, ice cream and homemade gelato.Įric, right, and Nina Yee have retired their popular restaurant, but a new restaurant taking over the space will carry some of their most popular menu items. “When you want to be the best, you need to be the king or the queen. The name, Yee said, came from their desire to deliver the best product. From there, it expanded to include dim sum and a wide variety of options. The hot menu started with noodles and rice, familiar dishes to the couple. “In order to compensate for the rest of the six months, we (sold) some hot food.” “In Saskatchewan, (that’s) only six months of business, because of the wintertime,” Yee said. It started as an ice cream shop when they needed an idea to repurpose an old computer warehouse.
